National Shared Housing Resource Center

The National Shared Housing Resource Center (NSHRC) is a network of independent non-profit homesharing programs across the United States. The goals of this program are to raise awareness of the benefits of homesharing, encourage best practices and cross learning among programs, and to foster the development of new homesharing programs.

This organization provides opportunities for individuals to discover available and fitting housing arrangements unique to each person’s desires and needs. Homesharing enables two or more unrelated people to share housing for their mutual benefit. A person offers a private bedroom and shared common area in exchange for rent, help around the house or a combination of the two. Every homesharing arrangement is unique, however most current homesharing opportunities match older adults with younger home sharers. It’s about people helping people.
