What will be the first steps for the Autistic Adult to apply for housing please?

Hello all,  hope everyone is doing fine. I am new here seeking advice/tips for my son Mike who is 21. I am creating a list of all relevant info he will be needing after I am gone so he will know what to do himself in the event of my God forbid untimely departure.

Regarding housing here in NY, can anyone tell me what should be the first steps for him to get a place of his own in a safe environment please? Blessings.

Hello! We have the same situation here in NC. My daughter Yvette is nearing 21 years of age and I want her to be able to have a well rounded fully functioning and healthy life! We’ve gotten this far and the pandemic just made things worse. She is non verbal and has reverted a little as well. Not being in school or having access to many activities has really put pressure and strain on this little family. Best of luck to any and all in this situation with little to no means to make it “all better”.

I too am looking for Housing/roommate options for my smart, high functioning son Jared who is 23-yrs old.  We are in Guilford, CT between New Haven and Old Saybrook.  Looks like we all have the same problem but are widely scattered coast-to-coast.  Suggestions?
