Innisfree, a voluntary community with adults with intellectual disabilities, is dedicated to providing a life-sharing home and work environment in an atmosphere of beauty, warmth, and respectfulness. All community members are valued, and all are encouraged to explore a meaningful and challenging life.
Innisfree Village is a fully licensed, residential community with adults with intellectual disabilities. Founded in 1971, this nonprofit, nonsectarian community is located on 550 acres in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains outside the university town of Charlottesville, Virginia. We are dedicated to a lifesharing community model.
Community members live and work together in a variety of therapeutic workstations, including our farm, gardens, bakery, community kitchen, weavery, and woodshop. Fitness activities, recreational activities and expressive therapies such as pottery, art, and music are also a part of community life.
