Yes, my son, Alexi, who is 17 makes silver and gemstone beaded earrings, bracelets and necklaces and then sells them at craft fairs.
He loves to do this, and we also learn about the history of the bead trade (geography and social sciences), gems and minerals (sciences), economics (pricing, quantities, ordering and basic accounting) and art and design.
So we put together jewelry making kits at three different price levels (from inexpensive to more expensive, depending on what one wants to make) for other kids with IDD and ASD to learn how to do the same.
you can visit alexisangels.net to learn more and read our mission page.
We hope to find a few other young adults to have a live/work/play in our home on the Shoreline in Connecticut, which has a train line to Boston or New York, to live together and create crafts, not only jewelry, to then sell at fairs.
